“Vocational rehabilitation is whatever helps someone with a health problem, stay in, return to and remain at work. It is an approach rather than a particular intervention”
This person centred service encourages and supports people to stay in work, return to work/education and engage in a range of meaningful activities within their recovery.
The community mental health teams offer a range of vocational support and specialist, vocational rehabilitation from professional staff through individual action planning for people with enduring mental health conditions.
Close links with other members of the employability partnership ensure a wide variety of options are open to people in both rural Perthshire and Perth City settings.
Referrals into this service are via the G.P. services.
‘Good Work, Good Health’ Community of Practice is a resource used by a diverse group of professionals to contribute collectively in different ways and contexts to job retention. The VR CoP is open to any person who has an Athens password. The Cop creates an online community to support VR practice across Tayside. It provides a space where practitioners can: increase and exchange knowledge, share examples of innovation and best practice, influence the health and work agenda locally, provide an opportunity to network with colleagues within Tayside with a common VR interest and achieve better client outcomes influenced by better knowledge. Access to the service is completely free.
