Deaf Action has received funding from the Big Lottery Fund to set up and run an Employability service for the next four years.

Starting in January 2016, Mark McMillan and Katharine Jackson are our 2 new Employability Advisors. They are here to support Deaf adults who are currently out of work. They will assist individuals with increasing their present skills and abilities to enhance their chances of successfully getting a job. Although, Mark and Katharine are unable to find people employment directly, they will help with a number of different activities including:

  • CV writing
  • Job applications
  • Interview training
  • Building self confidence
  • Setting realistic employment aims
  • Offering drop-in clinics
  • Delivering workshops
  • Linking people with Deaf peer mentors
  • Engaging with employers
