New Opportunities department offer a range of Personal and Vocational Studies Courses which have a focus on the development of Essential Skills and Employability. These courses are a good place to start a college journey and can lead to further learning across the college.
We provide courses for young people who:
- Want to improve their employability chances.
- Want to find an entry point to another curriculum area.
- Are looking to gain more qualifications to help to progress.
- Have not yet decided what they want to do with their future.
- Need to develop the academic skills and personal confidence beneficial for future studies and employment.
- Want to return to study and improve existing skills or learn new ones.
Our friendly and supportive staff help students gain confidence and experience and work closely with colleagues across the college to enable them to make successful transitions into further study or employment. Our Transition Officer works with young people who need a longitudinal or enhanced transition into college and our Student Development Workers can support young people who require emotional, social or behavioural support while in the classroom environment.
