The Learning Disability Occupational Therapy Project works in partnership with Springland Plants Social Enterprise runs from The Walled Garden, Upper Springland, Isla Road, Perth, PH2 7HQ. You can also contact us on the mobile number 07717 360897.

At the Upper Springland Garden OT staff concentrate on therapeutic and vocational skills through the use of horticulture as an activity. We work in partnership with Capability Scotland & the Springland Plants Social Enterprise.

The Project has been running in the walled garden at Upper Springland, Isla Road, Perth since 2000 & was formerly called Growing Capability.

The Project has places for up to 4 volunteer workers/service users with Learning Disabilities. It is supported by a registered occupational therapist and an occupational therapy support worker.

Specifically we can support:

If you think the project is for you this is what we can do.

When you apply for a place you may be offered a 12 week assessment period at the project where you can get to know staff and other service users/volunteers and try out the work. This will involve working outdoors and in the poly tunnels and greenhouses in the walled garden. If you enjoy this and wish to continue with us a longer placement may be offered, the placement is also reviewed regularly to ensure that you are learning and improving your skills as you work. We also have close links with Perth and Kinross employment support team to ensure that when you are ready you are able to move on from the project in to open employment or other voluntary jobs.

We can provide assessments, testimonials and references to employers to help support individuals in new employment opportunities.
